Phu Quoc is an island of white-sand beaches, fishing villages and green forest in An Giang province, in the far south of Vietnam. A first stay goes best when you mix days out on the island with slow hours at the resort.
A morning on the beach
Sao Beach, on the south-east coast, is known for its fine white sand and calm, clear water. Go early, when the light is soft and the beach is quiet.
An evening at the night market
Duong Dong Night Market, in the island’s main town, is the place to try seafood and local snacks. Take your time along the stalls and choose what looks freshest.
The sea from above
The Hon Thom cable car crosses the sea to Hon Thom island in the south of Phu Quoc, with wide views over the water and the fishing boats below.
Forest and streams
Phu Quoc National Park covers much of the north of the island, with forest and streams for a cooler day away from the coast.
Slow days at DOL
Between outings, keep a day for the resort: a swim in the large pool, a turn on the water slide, a walk through the tropical garden and dinner under the wooden roof of our restaurant.
