Breeze-block walls: the story behind our bathrooms

Breeze-block bathroom wall

Step into a bathroom at DOL Phu Quoc Resort and the first thing you notice is the wall: red brick, with a grid of open breeze blocks letting the daylight in.

What is a breeze block?

Breeze blocks, called gạch bông gió in Vietnamese, are bricks with open patterns. In tropical buildings they let air and light pass through a wall while keeping the space private.

Light and air in every bathroom

Our red-brick rooms and bungalows sit under tiled roofs around the pool and the tropical garden. In their bathrooms, the breeze-block walls bring in soft light during the day and let the air move, so the space feels open and fresh.

The same walls at the spa

Our spa’s treatment rooms are set behind breeze-block walls too: the light comes through in small patterns, the garden stays close and the rooms stay calm.

A pattern you will see everywhere

The breeze-block grid became the resort’s signature. You will find it behind photos and along the edges of this website, too.
